Search Engine Ranking Factors
Content (Amount and Relevance)
There's no such thing as "too much content" if you want your website to rank highly in the search engines. However, your content must be highly relevant to the phrases people actually use when searching for information in your subject area, as well as the intentions of the searchers themselves. It must also be organized in a logical way that makes semantic sense, internally linked to establish discrete subject "silos," and linked to from relevant external websites. It's also wise to release your new content in pre-planned stages over time (maintaining a blog is helpful for this).
Finally, but all-importantly, your website's content must consist of resources that people actually think are helpful. If you build a great resource, you will receive links from relevant sites, top rankings in the search engines, and increasing visits from interested prospective customers. There is no shortcut to quality content-building, but it's one of the best things you can do for your website.
